In her first solo exhibition Hissa Al Kuwari (b. 2003) reflects on the significance of this intimate and deeply social space within our everyday life. In Gulf homes, the living room is more than an interior: it is a site where gatherings, rituals, hospitality, social relationships, and everyday routines unfold.
Through painting, photography, and installation, the exhibition observes the patterns, objects, furnishings, clothing, gestures, and rituals that occupy these spaces. By extracting moments of apparent banality from the private living room and placing them within an exhibition space, these ordinary details become subjects of observation and reflection.
